Faculty/Staff-Led Education Abroad Manual 2024

The Center for International Programs:

  1. Maintains the website for program participants and manages the submission of required documents.
  2. Provides information and resources to program directors on issues of health and safety abroad.
  3. Upon request, provides consultation and review of program proposals.
  4. Upon request, assists with pre-departure orientation and re-entry programs.
  5. Provides emergency action protocol that enables program directors abroad to contact 澳门六合彩开奖现场直播 on a 24-hour basis.
  6. Coordinates on-campus action of the Study Abroad Risk Management Task Force (in cooperation with the Provost and the Associate Provost for Student Affairs) in case of an emergency abroad.

Invitations to visiting international faculty to conduct teaching or research at the 澳门六合彩开奖现场直播 must be approved by the department chair and dean of the college. Specific details concerning the visiting faculty member's responsibilities, term of appointment and benefits provided by 澳门六合彩开奖现场直播 should be determined before a formal invitation is issued. Please consult with the Center for International Programs to determine if the visiting scholar qualifies for a J-1 exchange visitor visa, and what category of the J-1 program will be used.

Once the details have been approved, a letter of invitation from the dean is sent to the visiting professor, along with the聽J-1 Scholar Information Form聽available from the Center for International Programs. The completed form should be returned to the Center for International Programs at least two months prior to the date the visiting scholar plans to arrive in the U.S. International Programs will issue the DS-2019 form, which the visiting scholar uses to obtain a J-1 exchange visitor visa.

International Exchange Partnership Proposal Form

General guidelines for establishment of new exchange programs:

  • Strategic partnerships.
  • Proposals must be supported by department chair and dean of the college.
  • Terms of Memorandum of Understanding should include specific dates (usually three years) with guidelines for renewal/termination of agreement.
  • Termination of exchange agreement if no activity within an agreed upon time frame (recommend one or two years).

Proposals, once approved by department chair and dean, will be reviewed by the International Student Advisory Committee. The committee, appointed by the president, advises the Assistant Provost of the Center for International Programs and periodically reviews policies and matters concerning recruitment, retention, services and exchange programs. The committee consists of the Assistant Provost of the Center for International Programs (chair), the director of the International Studies program, one faculty member from each academic college plus an additional faculty member from the World Languages and Cultures department, the director of Admission and a student representative recommended by the Assistant Provost of the Center for International Programs.
